Firstly, I would like to thank all the people who answered the "in bed" meme, because it kept my spirits up during an otherwise wonky day. Here comes the whine....

We're finally learning web site construction in Interactive Media. Finally! But most of the class time was spent boring me to tears going over the simple functions of Dreamweaver which I could have explored at my leisure later. However, because I don't have another class for 3 hours, I was staying late and was able to learn from the wonderful tech support woman how we actually load up the html pages to the site. The teacher actually didn't know! I wasted time until Art History started, and for some reason, a Michelle was pissing me off more than usual today. Michelle is an older woman whose attitude, language and clothing scream yuppie. This isn't such a bad thing except for today, she couldn't stop saying "uh-huh" and "okay" after every other freakin' statement the teacher made about Impressionism. I like impressionism too, my favorite artist is Monet, so Michelle's li'l interactions and comments about her theories of the artists' motivation for painting were breaking my concentration on what Gloria was saying. And the table Ally and I were sitting at was really wobbly. We both were drawing during class and kept moving the table around. Crappy school furniture. Then I walk home in the icy wind to try to write a 1000+ paper about how The Silmarillion is an Aristotilean epic. Before 6:30 pm. Didn't happen. I cranked out an outline and thesis, but spent the rest of the time haunting the internet, waiting for class to start. So I go into Ancient Literature tired, hungry and a week behind on the homework. I sat in a crabby funk the entire time. Throughout the whole day, I've been talking with a friend about babysitting for her either tonight or tomorrow. About 10 minutes before I leave for her place, I get a voicemail saying that she'd actually like me to babysit Friday.
As frustrating as it all was, I'm glad to have tonight off. I've got a bath calling my name and I borrowed "Amelie" from a friend. Then I get to spend the next 20 hours waiting for my ex to call me. He called me during class tonight and explained how he wants to talk. For a good while. What could he possibly want, I wonder? I am curious and a little excited, because I've been feeling a little slighted in the way he treats me now that we're not trying to be friends, but still hanging out with the same people at the same time. It should be ok, I just hope he's doing all right, I know he had fallen on some rough times recently.
It's kind of ironic that he calls today, when I had finally decided to pull myself out of my depressing pit of self-pity. For some time now I've stopped actively persuing the men I've been interested in, in hopes that someone would turn around and woo me for a change. It only took me a week to realize that there is no way that's gonna happen. ha! So, silly me, I'm going to go after who I wish to go after, cuz making out with boys is fun, and I'd hate to have to give that up due to some stubborn desire in me to be chased for once.

Do I ever need to go grocery shopping! Because I had nothing easily preparable in the fridge (i.e. cereal and milk), my breakfast was coffee and lunch was popcorn. I made meat helper before my 3pm class, though, and that solved everything. Going to the Dubliner tonight, I hope I can nail down some concrete coffee plans with xjere and try to volunteer some time to helping afterglow81 'n' teffers moving. I think that maybe, just maybe my interactive class is about to start constructing our web sites tomorrow. I've got my ftp address and everything, I'm so excited!
I received a notice for my high school's 5 year reunion in June last night. The bastards want $40-$60 for registration, depending on how early you send the form in. It's even more if you want to bring a guest. If everything turns out right, I'll have just gotten back from my college's New York trip, so I'm planning on sending my money in and showing up. I'm really going to turn some heads. I hope some of the old teachers will be there too, because I'd like to catch up with some of them, as well. La, memories!

I only got about 4 hours of sleep, but it was worth it. I was so happy to hang out with jmanna, drok_vox and his friends. Brunch was very yummy, thank you! The car ride over there was enjoyable, made more so by jmanna's li'l dancing dashboard duck (dance, bastard, daaaance!) I then met my old roomate out at the mall, we shopped for her birthday outfit and went to her place to get ready for the concert. Couple of drinks and opening bands later, we rocked out to The Fighting Tongs. Great band with a great live performance and a great big following of bitchy teenyboppers. It felt strange to be drinking gin and tonic with a bunch of youngin's milling around. I suppose I should get used to it. There was a chaotic couple of minutes trying to score a ride home, but I made it back here and it's only 10! Spikenheimer, I got your message, and will give you a call in the next couple of days. I'm gonna go find something to waste my time before I go to sleep.

Work has been relatively easy lately, not too hectic. I'm hoping Monday is nuts and we make a lot of money in tips. Gaming tonight was fun, as always, even though I fell asleep at the end; like always. I'm still just glad to hang out with that circle once a week. The time seems to be passing fast nowadays, school days fly by, weekends slip past and it's already the middle of February. woah, where's my fucking cappuccino? I need to go to sleep now.

I got let off from work early tonight, we were fully staffed for a monster rush, but it just wasn't happening. I was actually kind of ticked that it wasn't insane. It would have made the time pass, and tips would've been great. Besides working Saturday, I work 5-10pm on Monday, so that's going to be the cash money night. oh well. I've noticed that when I drink, I get the urge to draw. I have to draw my head twice using different techniques and read a couple chapters for Figure Drawing class, so I figure I'll take a shot of tequila and see what happens. Wish me luck!

Last night was awesome! "Slippery When Wet" was a loud, beautiful, confusing, confrontational play--I liked it! I recommend this show to everyone, and it was only $10. Then spikenheimer and I went to Cahoots, my new favorite haunt because they serve Moroccan coffee. It's very close to Turkish and Ethiopian "buna", so I was wired for the rest of the night. The skittles didn't help, either! It was fun. I ended up at my friend Ned's place with his friends, passing around The Onion's "Love Coupons". While we were watching Kill Bill pt.1, Ned and his friend Pat asked if I want to sing in their band because they think female singers are great. Pat is actually pretty articulate for being 19. I haven't actually sung for performance in about 3 yrs, and I don't know how serious these exhausted, pot-steeped boys were. We'll see. I've got laundry and comics to draw and brekkers to eat. I'm outta here.

Wow, what a good show. I saw Oedipus Rex tonight with my ancient Lit. class, CVA picked up the bill. sweet. So even though we had cheap student seating, the play was amazing. Very energetic and the costume design friggin rocked! I had to bus there and back because the only person who'd I'd beg a ride from walked to the Guthrie from his apt. I'm excited to go see "Slippery When Wet" tomorrow with Spikenhiemer, cuz you still want to go, right? I got you a ticket! Two plays in as many days, I feel so classy.
I called my mom to say hi earlier and got her boyfriend instead. He told me how they're going out for a Victorian-themed dinner with friends on Saturday, and he's fixing it so she finds an engagement ring in her dessert. He asked if I'd be ok with him marrying my mom. If hadn't been on the bus, I would've jumped up and down and wet myself with excitement. Weeeeee! Obviously, I'm cool with it. So's my brother. Dave's a fan-frickin-tastic guy. (one more: weeee!)
Sunday I'm going to a concert for my old roomie's b-day (on Monday). I don't even know who's playing, I just wanted to go out with her and another friend and have a good time. We're hitting the Gay 90's afterwards, which will be my first time. I tend to see the 14th as this girlfriend's birthday, which is more special to me than any other association. I'm still thinking of renting The Crow and getting miserably drunk that night anyway. And then going to school in the morning. heh.
I have a grip of homework to do before bed, ("a grip"? does anyone even say that anymore?) I'm gonna get moving on that. ta!

I think I've figured out why I despise the Interactive Media teacher so much.
A.) His class content consists of stuff I could learn on my own. I'd have a much better time sitting for 3 hours in front of w3schools.com, figuring out CSS for myself.
B.) He hates Microsoft and has focused on Apple and Mac for his entire computer-using career. Thus he doesn't know much about anything NOT Mac and Apple, and cannot answer operating questions I have about my Dell and my programs.
C.) He still talks to damn much. He'll take half an hour to discuss the damn relativity of pixel size instead of getting on with the lecture.
D.) No breaks during lecture allowed--unless he needs one to get some water because he's talking to much.
yar. He's continuing with his lecture, and I'm sitting quietly at my computer untill he notices I'm not paying attention.

wow, I was all set to bitch about something that happened today, but now I can't think of anything but how wonderful Billie Holiday sounds. Her voice is like strawberries dipped in dark chocolate....
Sometimes it's fun to be a moody Cancerian, I can slip out of bad moods as easily as I slip into them. I'm gonna work a little on brainstorming anti-valentine card ideas, either to sell or just to give out to people...it should be fun. Tomorrow I will have comics posted up somewhere, website or no website, dammit.

I miss being 5. Everyone fed you, hugged you, helped you pick what movie you wanted to watch, coached you through reading books, gave you peaches in milk when you stayed overnight at their house. *sigh* They don't make life like they used to.

Anyway, it was critique time in Interactive Media today, during which I finished another one page comic due to the fact that I was too far back to see the poems on the projector screen, and that half the time the teacher would get sidetracked from the critique and end up discussing technical matters of html, most of which had already been taught. yar. This one girl in class just isn't picking up on the material, and it showed in her pages, which Jesse just ripped apart. I felt bad that even though she's bravely trying to forge ahead, he's been trying to convince her to drop the class. It would be better than for her to fail it, but I still felt pity. There really wasn't much more wrong with the page than with some of the otehr people's stuff. Some guys didn't even write their code correctly.
I'm going to go pick up the tickets for the Thursday "Slippery When Wet" show for me and spikenheimer and head to work for 3 hours. Why? Why only 3 damn hours? It's cold!

So I got to bed at about 4am Sunday morning, all weepy from my emotional jag. About half an hour later, I start to dream...
I'm being led downstairs by a male friend of mine. The stairway and room at the bottom are decorated with little poems, cards, pictures that he made for me. In the room he takes me in his arms and kisses me, my vision fades to black like it was the end of a movie. I become concious of pain. I open my eyes in the dream to find someone is on top of me, raping me. He stops and I slide from a bed onto the floor. The room I'm in is so dim I can't see who reclines on the bed, gloating over me. It looks like a number of people I know all at once. I'm drunk or drugged, I try to get up and my limbs are heavy, my head swims. The guy starts talking on a phone while I reach around me. I find my phone and grab it and make for the door. I'm pulling my body along, trying to stand. The guy lets me do this while he talks because he knows he can catch up to me anytime. I get out the door and down a hallway, willing my self to lean and push against the walls for support. I get through the security door of an apt. building, and I know he's coming after me. It takes all of my will to get through the last door and outside. I reel around on the pavement, and see he is behind me, coming to get me. I turn away to fly, to flee....and wake up. My heart was pounding, and I was afraid to go to sleep again. I have nightmares very rarely, but damn....
I had a nice and lazy sunday before going to work, which was fairly slow due to the obvious. I went over to Ned's house after work and got to watch the preview episode of Seth MacFarlane's (Family Guy) new show, "American Dad". I like the german goldfish. I know you all saw the show, don't pretend like you could reisist the funny. What do you think?
I'm going to go look for html tutorials now. I'm gonna be so smrt!

I don't even know why I thought it would be a good idea to go when I didn't even know the host. I recognized most of the people there--upperclassmen--who all knew each other, but not me. I also had the bright idea to wax dramatic and wear uber-black makeup with my white contacts. I thought it looked cool. So I spent most of my time standing around, awkwardly observing a small group of people in a huge Summit Ave. house pass the time with alcohol and pool-shooting. There was Shawn and Josh to talk to, thankfully.

I was bone-tired after work today, but I go gaming anyway. I had an x-mas gift to give and some website questions for Shelly. This was the first game session both Mike and I were at since we came to the "arrangement". We basically don't interact with each other at this time, until he decides whether or not he wants to be friends with "the person I've become". I hate the "arrangement"! He didn't want to read the comic I drew, he didn't want fruit when I offered it and then complained that he didn't get any when it was gone, and I think he pretended not to hear me when he asked if anyone wanted a can of soda while he was up. I'm probably just being paranoid about that last one. I didn't expect to be hurt over these things. I like him as a person and I want him to like me, too. I hate the arrangement. I hope you read this, Mike.

I got some damn fine boots, finished a second comic, had a yummy buffet lunch with cool people and the actual roleplaying part of Sat. night was a good session, too. Gonna clean this place up after a little sleep and then coffee. I'm ok!

I went to my friend Andrea's apt. to retrieve my boots she borrowed for an emergency date one night. In exchange, she's letting me borrow some boots she wants to sell me for a "black and white" party I'm attending tonight. I got home and tried the boots on.....I think I had a foot-gasm. These boots are so damn comfortable and shiny looking, I don't ever want to take them off! I'm buying these for sure. I'm kind of nervous to go because even if it is a "CVA Social" as the invitation says, I still don't know many people at school. I guess this would be my chance to change that. Off I go, then.

I said I'd do this, so I am.
My Ancient Lit. class is going to see "Oedipus Rex" next Wed, Feb. 9th at &:30 pm at the Guthrie. We have assigned seats though, so if those of you who expressed interest in going, I don't know if we could sit together. :(
But! My college requires students to attend an average of two "symposiums" a semester for graduation, which are art events in the area, designated at the beginning of the semester. The first one is seeing "Slippery When Wet" at the Penumbra on Feb 10th, 7:30 pm. So! I'm going, and if anyone wants to see it with me, let me know--I might be able to get you a ticket for $10. The notice says the play is all about "forbidden love", so maybe somebody will die!
My horrorscope said tonight not to worry, I can work all night. Sounds like fun!
I've had waaaay too much coffee today...

Well, I've got half my paper written. My knees have begun to hurt for some reason, so I'm going to catch a few hours sleep before getting up early to finish the rest of the paper. I can't really think straight right now, anyway. At least all the reasearch and note-taking done.
I promised French Press to the class tomorrow, so I have to leave my box early enough to stop and buy tiny paper cups from somewhere before showing up to class like a radiant coffee goddess.
Earlier tonight in Ancient Literature class I was watching Pavel eat and I could see his coronoid process and temporomandibular joint working along underneath his zygomatic arch as he chewed. It was neat. Boy needs to gain some weight, though, if I can see his skull through his skin.
And I'll leave you with that thought.....night!

I was just about to start whining about having to write a rough draft for a research paper by 8 am today.
Then I realized that I'm surrounded by art books, pencils, pens, notecards, coffee, artwork, and paintbrushes, sitting in front of a sweet-ass computer, underneath a sweet-ass Ikea lamp in front of a gigantic Welsh dragon on a flag. I'm living the life. I couldn't ask to be in a better place right now, and I'm infinitely grateful for the people who have helped me get here. All of you who have touched my life, whether you're reading this or not; Thank You.
